Unusual old candle: where is it?
I inherited an unusual and want to sail for more information. Someone Is it useful? Sorry, you can not photograph the moment. It is very old. Imagine hundreds of individual strands candle in a rotation around an empty center large bulb (perhaps once more contained another candle sound?). The filaments are cream, maybe it was a white times. An image in the role of the Virgin Mary and baby Jesus surrounded by gold wax is on one side, it looks as if it was intended to be viewed from the front only. In principle, all the small pieces of the candle can ignite, but obviously that is an antique I would not do. I Austrian family through which I inherited, but I do not know the name, where, how old, etc. Can anyone help?
Sounds like it could be Austrian or even in Spanish, but without seeing is a bit of a shot in the dark. Also Victorian flavor of appointment, because they have things sophisticated furnishings with wax. Sounds strange, but the candles Europe could be very thorough in time. The Virgin Mary that cardboard was popular in many places and so may have been made for a face. If there was a paper decoration on the other side, should be able to see pieces of wax that was broken. If you can email me the photo you want to view. I was a curator of Decorative Arts five years or more and have identified below the controls, but without seeing it, is a bit hard to say.
